Center Aims for Physician Leadership in Tech
The American Medical Association (AMA) has introduced its Center for Digital Health and AI, placing physicians at the core of digital health and artificial intelligence innovation. Announced on October 20–21, 2025, the Center will focus on embedding clinical expertise into every stage of healthcare technology development (Healthcare IT News).
Key Goals
Shape clinical workflows: Ensure tech tools work in practice, not just theory.
Influence national policy: Bring physician voices to AI safety and standards talks.
Support operations: Provide toolkits and playbooks for responsible tech use (AMA: Augmented Intelligence in Medicine).

Funding and Leadership Structure
This is among the first initiatives under AMA CEO John Whyte, MD, MPH, who began in July 2025. The Center is set to receive millions in investment, and a search for its first senior vice president is underway (Inside Health Policy).
